#1 MagicMirror

Magic Mirror was a “spur of the moment” project that I decided to embark one while in the UK. Was bored at home after work and wanted to do something techie(geeky) and went online to search for inspiration. Stumbled upon a Magic Mirror website, the original creator of the Magic Mirror Michael Teeuw documented a step-by-step guide on how he built his smart mirror. It was a VOILA moment for me, as it seems to be the perfect starter project for me! To get accustomed to programming languages, Raspberry Pi, basic carpentry work and getting into the groove with building an IoT hardware. It took me a couple of hours to find our the materials that I would need and how I’m going to accomplish this new found “Mission”. Went online to get a Raspberry Pi, googled on where to get the cheapest Acrylic Mirror(2-way mirror) and I wanted a huge mirror, thus was sourcing for a suitable monitor(got a 2nd hand 24″ monitor from Carousell). All in all, the acquiring of materials, programming and setting up the products wasnt too difficult, however the stage where I’ve to put everything together, Mirror + Monitor + Raspberry Pi + Power socket was a huge task for me! Engaged the help of my dad, and we manage to get the Smart Mirror working! Below are some snapshots of the work-in-progress of my Magic Mirror.
